  • CAN I UPLOAD A SONG FOR A CONSULTATION?
Sure! You can upload and send your song to adam@bootlegrecording.net . If you would like to ask a question before submitting a new song, please use the same email address.
  • WHAT FILE FORMATS DO YOU ACCEPT FOR SUBMISSION?
For songs, please send .MP3s to the above email. If you have a WAV or AIFF file, please use a cloud storage such as Dropbox or We Transer, as they are much larger files.. We can also work with Pro Tools session files. For lyrics and chords charts etc, send .txt, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .jpg, or .pdf.
  • DO I HAVE CREATIVE CONTROL OR INPUT DURING THE PROCESS?
Absolutely! This is a collaborative effort and we welcome your input. Together we will decide all the most important details like who sings your song and specific instruments you’d like on your recording. Of course, if you want us to help you decide, that’s what we’re here for!
  • WHO KEEPS THE RIGHTS TO THE FINISHED SONG AND RECORDING?
You do! Unless you would like to hire us to assist you in writing your song, you will be the owner. If you would like us to help write your song, then the ownership would be split into an agreeable percentage.
  • HOW DO I PAY?
We accept all major credit cards and Paypal.
  • WHAT IS YOUR REVISION/REFUND POLICY?
Each song will include 2 free revisions. After that, each revision will be a fee of $100. Revisions are defined as changes or alterations to an instrument. Completely new recordings of an instrument or a vocal take will be a fee of $100. You may request a refund for your purchase if we have not begun working on the music. Song projects that are in process or completed are not eligible for a refund.
  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Fully produced, mixed and masterd songs (Electric Bootleg, Acoustic Bootleg, Campfire Bootleg and Build Your Own Bootleg) can take 3-4 weeks to complete. Songs that just need to be mixed can take about 1 week and songs that only need mastering usually take 1-2 days.
  • CAN I RECORD MY OWN VOCALS ON MY SONG?
Yes! And we can collaborate remotely via Zoom or FaceTime. To record your own vocals, you will need a microphone (condenser, dynamic or USB) and software to capture your voice. If using a condenser or dynamic microphone, you will need an audio interface, if using a USB microphone, you may not need an interface. If you have questions, email adam@bootlegrecording.net
  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE VIRTUALLY PRESENT DURING THE RECORDING, MIXING AND MASTERING PROCESS?"
It’s more effective to let all the processes be free of distraction from online conferences and chats, so that your song can sound the best it possibly can.
  • WHAT IS YOUR PAYMENT POLICY?
When you choose either the ‘Electric Bootleg’, ‘Acoustic Bootleg’, ‘Campfire Bootleg’, or ‘Build Your Own Bootleg’ packages, half payment is due up front. Final payment is due upon delivery of MP3 final mix and master of your song. Once final payment is received, a high quality WAV and / or AIFF file of your song will be delivered. There will be a 5-day grace period for final payment. If final payment is not received within 5 days, a fee of $50 will be incurred. Mixing and mastering services are due in full payment at the beginning of the project. Do you offer multiple song discounts? YES. When you record 3 songs or more at a time, you will receive a 25% discount on the consecutive songs. Once my song is finished, what can I do with it? Great question! You have lots of options. You can make a YouTube video, get your music on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Spotify, or iTunes, put your songs on a CD, or license your music for film, TV, advertising spots or video games. I have a question I don’t see on your FAQ page. How can I get in touch with you? Email questions to: adam@bootlegrecording.net
